Thin
Client terminals are desktop devices designed as an
alternative to standard PC stations. The typical
desktop computer consists of a large operating system
and applications installed locally, which requires
regular maintenance and support. Thin Clients have an
optimized operating system and graphical user interface
with no applications installed locally and functions by
connecting to a terminal service such as Windows,
Citrix, or UNIX servers. Programs are run via a
server-side session that displays on the Thin Client
screen. This server-based computing alternative
requires nearly zero administration at the desktop,
which significantly reduces the cost of managing IT
infrastructure.

FacilitaIT recommends Thin Client solutions for their
inherent savings and strategic benefits. Our clients have
reported cost reductions in desktop maintenance, upgrades,
training, and help desk response time. The strategic
benefits include, but are not limited to, application
delivery on-demand, ease of deployment, corporate
application standardization, remote user support
improvement, and intellectual property theft prevention.
Thin Client solutions provide an organization with a cost
effective solution that will decrease system downtime and
improve redundancy for better disaster recovery
capabilities.
